Nearly half of respondents in this year’s Voice of the Title Agent survey listed a renewed sales and marketing approach as their best business opportunity in the next 12 months. Although that was the most-selected opportunity, that number declined compared with the results from last year’s survey (56 percent) and the year before (60 percent).
The next most-often selected types of opportunities cited by survey participants were new technology (31 percent); cost reduction (27 percent); geographic expansion (25 percent); new business niche (24 percent); and merger or acquisition (22 percent).
Some of the specific opportunities cited by survey participants included refinancing, energy deals, remote online notary closings, rates dropping, recruiting, existing clients, the senior market and more production opportunities.
Two categories of opportunities – new technology (24 percent in the 2024 survey, 31 percent in the 2025 survey) and geographic expansion (18 percent in 2024, 25 percent in 2025) – were cited more often by industry professionals in the latest survey compared with the previous year’s.
Nearly 9 percent of respondents said that exiting the title business is their top opportunity in 2025, a small drop from the preceding year.
