Regional underwriter Security Title Guarantee Corp. of Baltimore announced two additions to its management staff.
Brent Scheer, CPA, has been hired as senior vice president and chief operating officer, and Michael McKay, Esq. has been hired as the assistant state manager in Mississippi.
Scheer is a graduate of Missouri State University and began his career holding various audit and public accounting positions. He then spent 18 years in the title insurance industry, serving in senior roles in operations and finance before joining Security Title.
“Security Title is a family-owned company established in 1952, I am honored with the opportunity to join the team to continue our mission of supporting the title agency community to serve consumers in the real estate marketplace,” Scheer said in a release.
Scheer served as the chair of the American Land Title Association’s accounting committee from 2010 to 2016 and is currently a board member of the Title Reinsurance Corp., which provides reinsurance support to Title Industry Assurance Company Risk Retention Group
Ted Rogers, president of The Security Title Guarantee Corp.of Baltimore, added, “Security Title is thrilled to have the opportunity to work with a talented and experienced industry veteran such as Brent. We are confident that Brent will help further our growth objectives as we expand into new markets and grow our agency base.”
McKay will work with Security Title’s Mississippi team, concentrating on agency relations and market development.

McKay has been a long-time real estate attorney in the Metro Jackson, Miss., area. He was admitted to the Mississippi Bar in 1983 and has practiced in the area of title insurance for many years.”
These two additions continue Security Title’s personnel growth in 2024 after promoting long-time Alabama state manager, Sean Culhane, Esq., to Southern regional manager and hiring industry veteran Jay Moseley as South Carolina state manager.
